By Adam Ogle, York County Pennsylvania Warden
I have had the pleasure of working with Good News Global for over 23 years. During my days as a correctional officer, I bore witness to many traumatic events, and I have fond memories of our chaplains taking the time to talk with me and offer support.
As the warden, that support has not waned. It is common to receive a text or email from a chaplain asking if there is anything they could pray for. I enjoy a monthly “Bible breakfast” with our chaplains at a local diner where we discuss tough questions and how we can better support each other, our staff, and the residents of our facility.
Good News Global chaplains have a major impact on everyone in our facility. Without them we simply cannot accomplish our goals of true rehabilitation and minimizing recidivism. The chaplains have a unique gift of changing hearts and minds and are facilitating some of the greatest transformations I have ever seen.
They utilize an innovative approach to prison ministry, such as implementing new faith-based trauma programs or even organizing basketball activities with our youthful inmate population.
The work they do never seems to slow down or become stagnant. They are simply ambassadors of Christ and work tirelessly to ensure all religious needs are met, regardless of faith. I would highly recommend Good News Global and believe that they are the gold standard of correctional ministry.
